Julius E. Mickelson, 81, of Webster City, died Thursday, January
7, 2010 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at
11:00 a.m. Monday at the Foster Chapel, with Pastor James Zuehls
officiating. Private family burial will be in the Washington Lutheran
Cemetery, south of Duncombe. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral
and Cremation Center from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday and prior to
the service on Monday.
Julius Eldon Mickelson, son of Jacob and Mabell Anderson
Mickelson, was born May 26, 1928 on a farm southeast of Duncombe.
He attended a rural school in that area. He graduated from Lincoln
High at Webster City. He started farming with his father in the
Duncombe area. On July 17, 1948, he married Leona Mae Mann at
Fort Dodge. Julius and Leona farmed southeast of Duncombe until
1979 when they moved to Webster City.
Julius is survived by his wife, Leona; sons and daughters-in-law,
Craig and Jerilynn Mickelson of Des Moines; Tim and Jeanie
Mickelson of Duncombe; daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Jeff
Krause of Jewell; grandchildren, Mollie and Joe Jorgensen; John
and Brooke Mickelson; Jake Krause; Tara Mickelson (Guido);
Jenna Krause (Tyler); Trevor Mickelson (Steph); Julie Mickelson;
2 great-grandchildren, Jack Mickelson and Quinn Jorgensen;
brother, Howard Mickelson of Fort Dodge; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bertha Mickelson;
Mildred Algoe and Norma Simpson. .
He was a member of the Washington Lutheran Church at Duncombe.
