Lyle D. Cole, 73, of Webster City died Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice House in Fort Dodge, Iowa. A Celebration of Life Open House will be held on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center.
Lyle Dean Cole son of David and Genevieve Cole was born on December 29, 1936 in Shelby, Nebraska. He grew up in Los Angeles where he graduated from high school in 1953. Lyle then attended U.C.L.A. until he was drafted into the U.S. Army (82nd Airborne Division) stationed in Fayetteville, North Carolina. On April 26, 1958 he married Judy Jane Johnston at the Mt. Vernon Methodist Chapel in Washington, D.C. Following his honorable discharge, the couple moved to Deep River, Iowa where he was engaged in farming. In March of 1975, the couple moved to Webster City where he was employed at Modern Farms Systems. Following his employment at Modern Farms, his next adventure was in developing various telemarketing publications in the Fort Dodge area. Lyle retired in 1991.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Judy Cole; daughter and son-in-law, Helen and Duane Youngdale all of Webster City; daughter-in-law, Ryann Cole of Pleasant Hill; grandchildren, Cole Youngdale, Jenna and Julia Cole; and step mother, Masae Cole of San Gabriel, California.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Cole on January 12, 2010; and his parents. Lyle was a former member of the Briggs Woods Golf Course and the MOOSE Family Center. He was an avid bowler where he and his wife, Judy attended tournaments throughout Iowa. Lyle also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He especially loved gatherings around his backyard pool. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in memory of Lyle Cole, 1009 Elm Street, Webster City, Iowa 50595.

I was so sad to recently hear that my buddy on the other side of the block had passed away. My dog, Bo, and I have walked by the Cole's and waved at Mr. Cole (and his family) ever since I moved in with my grandpa. We are still waving! Our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Cole's family. We still think of you and smile each time we pass by your place! Thanks for brightening our day! We miss you already! Love, Sarah Ostlund and Bo ("Your Dad's Girlfriend" ha ha)
