Walter S. Bailey, 71, of Webster City, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at the Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Asbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Linda Bibb officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center and after 1:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.
Walter Samuel Bailey, son of John and Mary Carpenter Bailey was born on May 22, 1938 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He received his education and graduated from the Webster City Lincoln High School. On November 9, 1958 he married Norma L. Vulgamott at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple resided in Webster City. Walter worked for various businesses in Webster City, including Forrester Dairy, Hamilton County Secondary Roads, Farmland Industries, Crestview Senior Living and the Hamilton Hospital until his retirement due to his failing health.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Bailey; daughters, Brenda (Brian) VanDeer, and Terri (Rocky) Saxton all of Webster City; sons, Wade (Anette) Bailey of Fort Dodge, Randy (Tina) Bailey of Humboldt; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; sisters, Julia Intveldt of Marshalltown, Velva Adams of Ames; and many nieces and nephews.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, William Bailey who lived in Oregon; his sister, Alma Staley and his grandson Michael Carpenter, who shared the same birthday as Walter.
