I met John through mutual friends at the VFW. He had a wonderful unique sense of humor and I knew if we had a chance to sit near him we were going to have fun. When I first got to know him, he told me how proud he was of his daughters. He and I discovered we liked the same kinds of old cartoons and off the wall comedy. He could spew out an expletive-filled opinion about something and I knew whether I argued or let him be with it, I was going to end up laughing a lot. After his trip to visit his daughters and granddaughter last summer, he made a special trip home to get the pictures to show me. He told about how he was trying to get his baby granddaughter to sit up. I liked John very much. I am sorry I didn't have more time to get to know him better and will truly miss him and his laugh.
