Zaida L. Gesling, 93, of Carman, Illinois died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab in Stronghurst, Illinois.

Born April 7, 1917 in Sperry, Iowa she was the daughter of Charles and Minnie Ping Granaman. She married Hugh L. Gesling, he preceded her in death on April 27, 1999.

Mrs. Gesling was a graduate of Sperry High School. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Gesling enjoyed reading, canning and cats. She had a great passion for gardening.

Survivors include one daughter Joan C. Potsick of Carman; one son, William H. (Samara) Gesling of Carman; two granddaughters, Cheryl Gearhart of Raritan and Pam Martin of Carman; four great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband five brothers and sisters.

Friends may call after noon on Monday, June 28th in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

The graveside funeral service and interment for Mrs. Gesling will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29th in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. The Rev. Michael Orthel will officiate.

Memorials have been established for the Henderson County Library and Henderson County Humane Society.
