Thora Clauson, 96, of Webster City, formerly of Forest City,
died Saturday, June 26, 2010 at the Southfield Wellness
Community. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, June 30 at the First Baptist Church in Forest City,
with Pastor Jon Rollefson officiating. Burial will be in the
Oakland Cemetery in Forest City.
Thora Rebecca Thompson, daughter of Harry and Bertina
Peterson Thompson was born April 25, 1914 in Forest City.
She received her education from the Forest City school system.
She received her two year teacher's certificate from Waldorf
College in Forest City. She taught for 5 years at a rural country
school in the Forest City area. On June 8, 1938, she married
Donald Clauson in Waterloo, IA. The couple made their home
in Forest City where they owned and operated Don's Food
Market in downtown Forest City. She retired in 1989. Mr.
Clauson died in 2004. In August 2006, she moved to Southfield
Wellness Community in Webster City.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Donelle and
James Mackey of Winchester, IL; Carolee and Ron Woodard of
Webster City; Jodi and Elmer Wilde of Las Vegas, NV; son, John
Clauson of Berlin, WI; brothers and sisters-in-law, Terry and
Elnora Thompson of Forest City; Richard and Darlene Thompson
of Crystal Lake; sister, Elaine Vergeront of Riverside, CA;
thirteen nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by
her parents and a brother, Orville Thompson.
