Maxine Fitchhorn

January 15, 1925 - July 2, 2010
Maxine Fitchhorn, 85, of Webster City, died Friday, July 2,
2010 at the Southfield Wellness Community. A Funeral Mass
will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Thomas Aquinas
Catholic Church, with Rev. Scott Boone officiating. Burial
will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be at the
Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00
p.m. Tuesday with a scripture service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Visitation will also be held on Wednesday morning at the
church after 9:00 a.m.
Maxine Louise Yates, daughter of Eldrige and Eunice
Passwaters Yates, was born January 15, 1925 at Galt, IA.
She attended school at Galt ,a rural Williams school and
Williams Public School graduating in 1944. In 1945,
She moved to Webster City and worked in several
restaurants. On September 27, 1947, she married Russell
Dwayne Fitchhorn at Webster City. The couple resided in
Webster City. For years, she worked in the dietary
department of the Webster City Middle School and from
1966 to 1980, she worked at Arrow-Acme. Prior to her
retirement, she worked in food service at the Riverview
Day Care. Mr. Fitchhorn died December 2, 1992. She had
resided at Southfield since April of 2000.
Mrs. Fitchhorn is survived by sons and daughters-in-law,
Sam and Patricia Fitchhorn of Eagle Grove, Larry and Paula
Fitchhorn of Webster City; grandchildren, Cory Fitchhorn
of Clarion; Sarah and Joe Kopriva of Webster City; Marta
and Steve Paukert of Duncombe; Angie Dilley of Webster
City; 9 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law,
Wendell and Ardys Yates; Andy and Charlene Yates; Larry
(Joe) and Sandy Yates; sisters, Larita Manship, Janet and
Kathy Yates; sister-in-law, Verona Yates, all of Webster
City; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by
her parents; brothers, John, Dean and James Yates; sister,
Evelyn Marie Yates; brother-in-law, John Manship.
She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic
Church, United Auto Workers Local #442 and the Webster
City Family Moose Center. She loved music and dancing
and was an avid domino player.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jane
Young House.
