James Dale "Jim" Anderson

James Dale "Jim" Anderson, 66, of Fayetteville NC died July 1 at Great River Hospice of Burlington of prostate cancer. Born August 11, 1943 in Fairfield, IA, he was the son of Dale W. and Winifred Waters Anderson (Harris). Mr. Anderson grew up on a farm near Stockport, IA where he graduated from high school. He was also a graduate of Iowa State University. On July 22, 2005, he married Diane K. Schmidt at Glade Creek Grist Mill, Babcock State Park, WV. He was previously married to Judith Shafer and Dee Foley.
Mr. Anderson successfully pursued a number of career paths. He worked in agriculture, construction, aviation and in the telecommunications industry. In Burlington, in the 1980s Mr. Anderson was the owner and manager of Mississippi Valley Development Company. He was state manager of Pennsylvania for S & N Communications and most recently was manager of the Fayetteville, NC area for the same company. Living and working in many areas of the country, he was an avid pilot, gardener, woodworker and gifted mechanic. He loved the outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, a daughter, Jena (Donnie) Rexroat of Unionville, MO; a son, Jim (Brenda) Kalamaja of Cedar Rapids; one brother, Gene (Joy) Anderson of Burlington, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his step father, Frederic Harris.
Mr. Anderson's body has been cremated. The Celebration of Mr. Anderson's life will be Monday July 5, at 11:00 AM at AnCam Airfield, 12126 Nepenthe, West Burlington. Look for directional signage on Beaverdale Road, just north of Beaverdale Heights (1.7 miles north of Highway 34 Exit 258). Visitation and fellowship with family will follow the service of remembrance.
Lunning Chapel is handling arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Great River Hospice of Burlington and Dr. Phillip Kantoff's prostate cancer research at Harvard University.
