GARNER -- Herbert "Herb" Seiler, 70, of Garner died Wednesday (April 23, 2008) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit in Mason City.

Funeral services will be held 10:30 A.M., Saturday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel in Garner with Pastor Janet Dorenkamp officiating. A flag presentation ceremony will be conducted by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M., Friday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel and will continue one hour prior to services.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of North Iowa or the American Cancer Society.

Herbert Walter Seiler, the son of Walter and Anna (Lietzan) Seiler, was born July 31, 1937 at Detroit, MI. He graduated from Grosse Point High School in 1955. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force being stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB in Tucson, AZ. After his honorable discharge in April of 1960 he returned to Detroit and worked at North Central Airlines as a jet mechanic. In 1967 he moved to Kirkland, WA where he was employed at Boeing Corporation. On April 7, 1968 he married Dawn Beenken at the Ramsey Reformed Church near Titonka. They made their home in Garner where Herb was employed at Winnebago Industries in Forest City. He later worked for Hormel Corporation in Algona retiring in 2002. He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, snowmobiling and bird watching.

Herb is survived by his wife, Dawn, of Garner; two sons, LeRoy of Rockwell City and Brian (Dana) Seiler of Lee's Summit, MO and their son, Wade; and a sister-in-law, Susan Seiler of Detroit, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Guenter Seiler; and a grandson, Jacob Seiler.
