Mrs. Mary Ann Gasser, 81, of Burlington went to be with the Lord in Heaven at 6:25 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2010 from Great River Medical Center.
Born May 18, 1929 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Ernest and Marguerite Clavin Kneedy. On December 10, 1963 she married John Gasser in Bettendorf.
Before her marriage, Mrs. Gasser was an elementary school teacher at Washington Elementary school in Davenport. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker.
Mrs. Gasser was a member of SS John and Paul Catholic Church. She was a contributor to the Missions and loved attending church. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and was a faithful and excellent wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed shopping and talking on the phone with her friends.
Survivors include her husband, John Gasser of Burlington; two daughters, Amy (Douglas) Beavers of Burlington and Christine Bichler of Appleton, Wisconsin; two sons, Mike (Ellen) Gasser of LaHarpe, Illinois and Ed (Amy) Gasser of Fishers, Indiana; her son Stephen’s life partner, Jack Schall of Denver, Colorado; seven grandchildren and one grandchild expected in October; one brother, Charles Kneedy of Macomb, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her son Stephen Gasser, parents, and one brother, Jim Kneedy.
Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 27th, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 3:30 until 5:00 p.m.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Gasser will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 28th, in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. The Rev. Anthony J. Herold will be the celebrant. The Des Moines County Resurrection Choir will provide music. Interment will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
