Mrs. Johanna Maria James, 84, of Mediapolis and formerly of Burlington died at 1:20 a.m. Monday, August 23, 2010, at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab in Mediapolis
Born January 31, 1926 in Frankfurt, Germany, she was the daughter of Karl and Regina Virginia Werth Irmer. On March 1, 1952 she married Clarence Shelley James in Landshut, Germany. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1990.
Mrs. James was a resident of Burlington since 1953. She worked as a monitor at Sylvania and was Sales Director at Holiday Inn and Pzazz, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed watching the news, especially Shepard Smith, watching NASCAR, playing cards and golfing and loved animals.
Survivors include nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a brother.
The funeral service for Mrs. James will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 30th, in Lunning Chapel. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate.
Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. in Grand View Burial Park, Hannibal, Missouri. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
A memorial has been established for the Des Moines County Humane Society.
