"I was so fortunate to have a grandfather like mine. Not many are lucky enough to have truly known their grandparents, as I did. Having lived with Grandpa and Grandma, they were a part of my daily life, ang helped so much with amazing guidance, love and support. They were always teaching me different things, from my working in grandpa's woodshop with him, how to play cards, to going in the garden, & I definitely learned to cook at 429. I remember vividly eating homemade ice cream, on his lap, watching baseball, with the windows open, during a perfect Iowa night. There is no happiness that compares to those memories I had with my grandparents.
Often, people have commented on two traits of mine. My positive attitude and my work ethic, I attribute both of these directly to the influences I had from Grandpa.
Every day, when raising my son, Oscar. I teach him about manners, respect, love, pride, hard work, and some humor and sarcasm. I guide him, hopefully, to be alot like Grandpa. "

"I had the pleasure of taking care of Bob while he was living at Bickford Cottage. What a wonderful man with some stories to tell! He will be greatly missed. I am sorry I will not be making it to the funeral. I was down with a stomach bug since Thursday last week and am still not feeling very well. Your family will be in my thoughts and prayers."
