Randy Polzin

Randy Polzin
February 1, 1956 - October 26, 2008

Randy Dean Polzin was born on February 1, 1956, in Springfield, Minnesota to the late Willie F.H. and Lillian (Willaby) Polzin, Sr. He was baptized at an early age at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers, Minnesota and later confirmed in that same church. Randy received his education in the Jeffers Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1974. He later attended the University of Minnesota where he graduated in 1980 with a Bachelor's Degree in Agronomy. After graduating, Randy began to work for the University of Minnesota for a short time in Villard before taking a position with the Storden Elevator in Storden, Minnesota. After the elevator was sold ten years ago, it was renamed Meadowland Farmers Co-op and Randy continued to work in Storden at the elevator.

On February 25, 2003, Randy was united in marriage to Elaine Thompson in Las Vegas, Nevada. After marriage, they lived in Storden. This past April, Randy was diagnosed with cancer and fought the disease courageously until passing away on Sunday morning, October 26th at the Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the age of 52 years.

Randy was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden. Randy had many enjoyments in life which included traveling, working at the Meadowland Farmers Co-op, reading, shopping, and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his wife, Elaine.

Randy is survived by his grateful family which included his wife, Elaine Polzin of Storden; three step-children, Scott Thompson and his wife, Margo, of Storden; Jeff Stevens and his wife, Kari, of Clovis, NM; Kathy Carey of Iola, OK; three siblings, Roger Polzin and his wife, Donna, of Jeffers; Ricky Polzin and his wife, Sheri, of Holyoke; Carolyn Michels and her husband, Harry, of Redwood Falls; nine step-grandchildren, Justin, Jared, Maurice, Bostyn, Kalea, Kristen, Daniel, Carter, and Cole; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Randy is preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Willie Polzin, Jr.
