Francis Berreau

May 13, 1937 - November 3, 2008
Francis Berreau was born on May 13, 1937, in Brewster, MN to the late Rudolph and Margaret (Schreiber) Berreau. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster. He received his education from the Brewster Public Schools and graduated from Brewster High School with the Class of 1955. From 1960-1962, Francis was enlisted with the Army and served in Germany, where he did tank maintenance. After serving in the Army, Francis went back home to Brewster, where he worked with his Dad.

On July 17, 1965, Francis was united in marriage to Edith Larson at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster. This marriage was blessed with three daughters, Lori, Lisa, and Holly. After Francis and Edith were married they lived in Worthington for a short time before moving to Brewster.

Francis was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brewster where he was a member of the Knight's of Columbus. He also belonged to the American Legion Post #464 in Brewster. Francis enjoyed woodworking, watching the Vikings and Twins, and most of all his family, especially his daughters, as he was very proud of them.

Francis passed away in the early morning hours on Monday, November 3, 2008, with his family by his side, at the Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota in Sioux Falls at the age of 71.

Francis is survived by his loving wife of forty-three years, Edith Berreau of Brewster; three daughters, Lori Linssen and her husband, Rhett, of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dr. Lisa Berreau of Logan, UT, and Holly Umhoefer and her husband, Kevin, of Buffalo; three grandchildren, Christopher, Laura, and Nathan Linssen; one brother, Ray Berreau of Brewster; two sister-in-laws, Betty Berreau of Brewster and Rosemary Berreau of Golden Valley; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dear Edith and family, I was saddened to hear from my father of the passing of Francis. Ten years of my life were spent riding my bicycle up to your door in Brewster to deliver the Globe to your home and Francis, though usually working, always treated me with respect beyond my years. He was a good man, honest and hard working. I was fortunate to know him and feel an emptiness with his passing. My heartfelt sympathies are extended to you all.
