LaVonne E. Fields

LaVonne E. Fields
December 19, 1925 - December 24, 2008

LaVonne Eilene Fields was born December 19, 1925, daughter of Ferdinand and Osine (Skabarud) Marquardt in Great Bend Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota. She was confirmed at the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1938 and graduated from Winnebago Public Schools in 1943. LaVonne attended beauty school in Minneapolis and received her license in 1945.

On July 11, 1946 LaVonne was united in marriage to James Otto Fields. Otto and LaVonne lived outside of Amboy for twenty years before moving to town in 1967. Once in town LaVonne was self-employed as a beautician for 15 years.

LaVonne was a very faithful and active member of the United Methodist Church in Amboy for many years where she was involved in the choir and Martha's circle. LaVonne also enjoyed singing with the Amboy Community Choir and her love of music was passed on to her three children by encouraging them to play piano and various other instruments. Over the years, LaVonne's other hobbies included painting ceramics, hardanger, sewing, playing piano and organ and canning vegetables from their garden.

LaVonne and Otto were married for fifty-nine years before he passed away on August 14, 2005 at Parker Oaks in Winnebago. After Otto's death, LaVonne continuing to live at Parker Oaks until passing away on Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 at the wonderful age of 83 years.

LaVonne is survived by daughter, Donna Iliff of Albert Lea, MN; son, Ron Fields of Monticello, IN; daughter, Julie Abrahamson and her husband Russ of Shakopee, MN; grandchildren, Ray Iliff (Mary), Amanda Gunzenhauser (Rob), Joshua Fields, Sam Abrahamson; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Gunzenhauser, Emma Gunzenhauser, Robert Iliff, Alexis Fields and soon-to-be baby Iliff.

LaVonne was preceded in death by her parents; husband Otto; five brothers, Ray, Irving, Gene, Francis (Bud), and Sylvanus; six sisters, Shirley, Ruby, Phoebe, Percy, Alice, and Delores.

LaVonne was loved very much and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
