In loving memory of

Adam R. Greene
February 20, 1961 - December 22, 2013

Adam Robert Greene, a generous soul and larger-than-life Madison character, died on Sunday, Dec. 22. He was 52.
Born and raised in New Jersey, Adam originally moved to Madison more than 20 years ago. He lived in the Wil-Mar neighborhood and was known to many as a garrulous, cheerful, and giving man. Adam could instantly make friends wherever he went.
He helped many friends in their moments of need, finding them a bicycle if theirs was stolen, getting toys for kids might not otherwise receive them or helping them with money if they were in in a bind. He took every opportunity to enjoy life with his friends, eating sushi at Muramoto, dining and chatting at Monty's, and riding bikes all over the city.
Adam loved singing as loudly as possible, dancing with glee, and reading to small children from his 'invisible book'. His enthusiasm and imagination were boundless.
He was particularly enthralled by his nephews, Will and Sam. He loved being an uncle, building blocks and telling stories to the boys when they were young, and travelling with them and offering his wisdom as they became teens.
Adam earned a bachelor degree in general studies from the University of Massachusetts, after transferring from Hampshire College. He also received a bachelor degree in fine arts from the California Institute of the Arts. Adam then earned a master in fine arts degree from the Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University. He often gave gifts of art, and the rooms in his home are covered with his work.
Adam is survived by his mother, Judith Greene of Montclair, N.J.; his sister, Elizabeth Greene of Seattle; his brother, Jay Greene and his wife, Rochelle Howe, and their two sons, Will and Sam, also of Seattle. His father, Robert Greene, passed away in November 2012.
A memorial service to celebrate Adam's life will be held at , Madison, at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013. Friends are invited to bring songs, stories, poems, good jokes, and photos to share.
