hnson, through mutual friends at the home of his uncle and aunt in Chicago. Alvin was in the Naval Reserve, stationed at Navy Pier at the time. They were married in Mason City IA on Feb 5, 1945.
When Alvin was discharged later in 1945, they moved to a farm southeast of Mason City. In 1946 they moved to their farm three miles northwest of Rockford, where they would live for the next 50 years . The "big city Chicago" girl made the transition to Iowa farm wife and loved her big farm house and the years on the farm. They always had a large garden, a pantry full of home-canned vegetables and sauces, and a freezer full of meat, most of which was from animals raised on the farm. After Alvin retired, they spent many summers camping on the North Shore of Lake Superior in their RV. Most of those summer seasons were at Burlington Bay Campground in Two Harbors MN. They treasured the many close friendships formed during those summers.
In 1996, Alvin and Ann moved into a townhome in Mason City, and enjoyed the friendships of their neighbors in East Village.
In January 2007, just three weeks before their 62nd anniversary, Alvin passed away. In 2008, Ann moved into the Manor Apartments in downtown Mason City, later to Cornerstone Assisted Living, and had been in Good Shepherd since July 2015.
Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, in 2007; her mother Anna Seiler and stepfather, Anton Seiler; and father, John Siebold. She is survived by son Ken, grandson Justin, and by daughter Kathy (Lew) Carter of Williams; 3 step-grandchildren and their families.
