Arlene Slack

Memorials to the Church of the Nazarene in Chariton or the Lucas County Public Health. Arlene was born February 27, 1931 near Lacona, Iowa to Chester and Tina Neer. She was married to Mick Slack May 21, 1951. She enjoyed making a home for her family, always gardening, canning, and cooking. Arlene was a very loving woman; intertwining her Faith in Christ into everything she did. She loved family holidays with her children and grandchildren. She was a strong woman, never complaining and always looking out for others. Arlene passed away Friday, October 17, 2008 at her home. She was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson Christopher Slack; and siblings: Melvin Neer, Marvin Neer, Doyle Neer, Junie Freeman, and Don Neer. Arlene is survived by her husband Mick; her children: Dennis (Marcie) Slack of Mediapolis, Pam (Randy) Trenary of Cedar Rapids, Dee (Scott) McDonald of Chariton, Jewel (Jeff) Thorne of Chariton, and Shelly (Brad) Williams of Chariton; 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; her Aunt Fern Boylan; and siblings: Darrel Neer, Mona Evans, Donna Branson, Dean Neer, Shirley Donigan, and Ronnie Neer.
