Alberta Sweeney Moss was born on June 7, 1912 in Lockwood, Missouri, the daughter of Squire Albert and Myrtle (Walters) Sweeney. Alberta entered into eternal rest on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Fair Oaks Care Center in Shenandoah, Iowa. Alberta moved to northwest Iowa at the age of two. She attended school and graduated from Alta High School with the Class of 1931. On October 1, 1931 she was united in marriage to Wallace Summerfield Moss in Omaha, Nebraska. The couple was later blessed with three children. Alberta and Wallace made their family home on a farm near Golden City, Missouri in Barton County. They farmed until his death in 1943. Alberta and the children later moved to Lamar, Missouri where she worked for Blue Star Foods, until 1947 when they moved to Shenandoah, Iowa. During her working days in Shenandoah she was employed by Blue Star Poultry, as a supervisor at Henry Field Seed and Nursery Company, Shenandoah Memorial Hospital and later at Gardenview Care Center. g time member of the Presbyterian Church and a six years member of the Rebekah Lodge. She was preceded in death by her husband Wallace, a daughter Wilma Lucille Fredrickson, a sister Ellamae and brothers; Lee, Ralph and George. Those left to honor her memory include her son Bill Moss and wife Barbara of Howell, MI and daughter Frances Lorimor and husband Dan of Sidney, IA; grandchildren; Lori Fredrickson of Boulder, CO, Jim Fredrickson and wife Cathy of Bozeman, MT, Linda Maxwell and husband Don of White Heath, IL Tom Lorimor and wife Rita of Sidney, IA and Paul Lorimor of Archie, MO; great-grandchildren Debbie Straw and husband Josh and Renee Johnson and husband R.P., Thomas Bailey, Wyatt Lorimor and Weston Lorimor; two sisters Ruth Small and Thelma Peterson; other family and friends. Funeral Services were held on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the Hackett-Livingston Funeral Home in Shenandoah with Rev. Rick Sleyster officiating. Joan Schebaum and Shelley McLaren attended to the memorial register. Special music for the service was provided by Jeff Penn while Steve Richardson played the organ. The selections included "Great Is Thy Faithfulness" and "The Lord's Prayer". Linda Maxwell gave a heart felt tribute to her grandmother. Following the services the the family gathered at the Presbyterian Church where the church ladies provided a lovely meal. Burial followed at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Golden City, Missouri with Dr. Troy Morgan conducting the graveside services. Memorials may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church in Shenandoah.
