Beloved husband of Ethel, father of Barbara and Susan, grandfather of Ava, Josh and Jesse, great-grandfather of Aaron, Noah, Ryan and Ella, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 26, 2005 at the age of 88.Born in Los Angeles on April 1, 1917, he attended UC Berkeley, and married his college sweetheart, Ethel. Joe followed his father's footsteps working in the garment industry in Los Angeles. He was a dedicated humanitarian; a lifelong warrior against bigotry.Joe contributed to the community through his tireless work for many organizations,including the B'nai Brith and the Anti-Defamation League, the United Jewish Appeal, the American Red Magen David for Israel, and the Fragile X Foundation. Joe was particularly proud to have been elected Senator of the California Senior Legislature, where he authored and sponsored a Death with Dignity bill.
