John Flom

John T. Flom, 66, died Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2012 while vacationing in Laughlin, NV. John was born on April 21, 1945 in Marinette, WI to the late Oscar and Thelma (Jones) Flom. John died after battling cancer and COPD. John graduated from Oconto High School in 1963 and retired from the Green Bay Correctional Institution in January, 2000. He and his fiancé, Liz, purchased a motorhome and enjoyed 12 years of traveling across the country. John loved being a snowbird and he and Liz always spent winters in a warm climate. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his son, John Todd, who was a great helper with any project John had to do. John Todd was especially helpful the last few years as John's illness progressed. John Todd will really miss his dad. John is survived by his longtime companion, Elizabeth (Olsen) Durfy; his son, John Todd; grandchildren, Jessica Flom, John R. Flom and Cassie Hall and great granddaughter, Savannah. He is also survived by four brothers, Norman and Kay, Robert and Marlene, Earl and Ida, Aaron and Rita; one sister, Doris (Lloyd) Cota and many nieces and nephews. (Helen) Durfy and Devon, who all enjoyed camping with John and Liz every summer on the Oconto River. John was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Eleanor. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at Lyndahl Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. until the Memorial Service at 7:00 p.m. with Matthew Cornelius, Funeral Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, John would like donations made to the Oconto Humane Society, Oconto WI 54153 as he always enjoyed having a cat and they even came along in the R.V.
