Wikum, Oyvind Stoughton-Oyvind J. Wikum, of rural Stoughton, passed away on Wednesday, February 15 at the Stoughton Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the son of Andrew and Julia (Johnson) Wikum, born April 8, 1916. He married Jane E. Jones of Madison on June 10, 1950. He was born in the same farmhouse that he lived in his entire life. He loved farming, especially watching the tobacco and crops grow as well experiencing the miracle of birth with the cattle and swine he raised. Oyvind was an active citizen serving as the Town of Rutland Clerk for 8 years and Town Chairmen for 17 years. During that time he served on the Dane County Board of Supervisors whose vision built the Veteran's Memorial Coliseum. He served on the Albion Insurance board of directors as President. He was a Life Member of the Sons of Norway Mandt Lodge and was President. He enjoyed making Romegrot for Syttende Mai and was a lifelong member of Covenant Church. Oyvind also enjoyed serving on the Stoughton Fair Board for 25 years including as President. He liked to fish up North when possible and hunted deer, geese, coon and pheasants. e, Jane, and three children; daughter Shirley (Reg) Hildreth of San Jose, Calfifornia, son Allan of Stoughton and daughter Janet (Steve) Keller of Oregon. He is also survived by his sister, Isabelle (Roy) Countryman of Belvidere, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his daughter Carol Ann in 2004, his brother Arnold (Edna) Wikum of Edgerton, brother Stanley (Esther) of California and brother Kenneth (Vernaline) of Stoughton. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Covenant Lutheran Church, 1525 N. Van Buren, Stoughton, with the Rev. George Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Monona after a luncheon at church. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at the Cress Funeral Home in Stoughton on Friday, February 17th, and again at church on Saturday from noon until the time of service at 1:00 pm.
