Nona Harrington

Harrington, Nona McFarland - Nona J. Harrington, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2012, surrounded by her loving family, at Agrace HospiceCare in Fitchburg. She was born in Elk Mound, WI on January 3, 1922, a daughter of John and Alice (Sorenson) Rhude. She was united in marriage to Patrick Harrington on December 18, 1982. Nona lived in McFarland for over 55 years, and taught Kindergarten in DeForest for over 25 years, retiring at age 65. She was a woman of strong faith, was a member of McFarland Lutheran Church and was a member of the Choir there for over 50 years, and was a soloist for many occasions. Nona loved her family and was very involved with their lives. She enjoyed hosting large family gatherings. Nona was a 4H leader, a member of the Sons of Norway, Retired Teachers, and a charter member of Romerikslaget. She enjoyed gardening, rosemaling, painting, baking, sewing, and especially playing the piano. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Nona Jo Ann, 2 infant sons, Peter Jan and Paul Martin; granddaughter, Amber Brook, and former husband, Paul Vinmans. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 20, 2012 at McFarland Lutheran Church, 5529 Marsh Rd. McFarland, with the Rev. Timothy Dean officiating. The family will greet friends from 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Sunday, February 19th at the Cress Funeral Home in McFarland, and again at church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am.
