Donald L. Tietge MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Donald L. Tietge, 82, of Muscatine, died on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine. Cremation rites were facilitated by the Family Care Services Life Transition and Cremation Center in Muscatine. Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Greenwood Cemetery. Donald was born on August 24, 1929, in Muscatine, the son of Lester F. and Vera B. Bennet Tietge. He was a Muscatine High School graduate, class of 1947. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict, the National Guard for six years and the Army Reserves. He married Leota Faulkner. Following her passing, he married Chloerine Grady and later divorced. He married Elizabeth Welch in June of 1981, in Muscatine. He worked at HON in quality control for 20 years. He was a member of the V.F.W. and Moose of Muscatine for 58 years. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Elizabeth Tietge of Muscatine; children, Tami Hall and husband, Jack, of Muscatine, Troy Tietge of Iowa City, and Michelle Chelf and husband, Dean, of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Brandi Little, Lisa Opfer, Lucas Hall and Karleigh Chelf; and five great-grandchildren, Madelyn...[more]
