Barbara Jean Hansel WEST BRANCH, Iowa -- Barbara Jean Hansel, 62, died on Monday, February 20, 2012, at Crestview Nursing and Rehab Center in West Branch. Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Henderson-Barker Funeral Home, West Branch. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Iowa City Hospice and Cindy Danielson for their support and compassion. Barbara was born on July 2, 1949, in Sigourney, the daughter of Jim and Irene Cavin Flanegan. She served as Staff Sergeant in the Air Force Reserves for more than 20 years and was employed with the University of Iowa for more than 27 years. She also worked at the Colony House in Little Amana. Survivors include her children, Jackie Hansel of Council Bluffs, Tony Hansel of Omaha, Nebraska, Dennis Hansel of Omaha, Nebraska, Krystal Kinzenbaw of Middle Amana, and George Flanegan of Marengo; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Mary Valdez of Denver, and Carol Klinkkammer of West Branch; brothers, George Flanegan of Iowa City, Paul Flanegan of West Branch, and Pat Flanegan of Iowa City; and a special friend, George Kin...[more]
