n pledged membership to the Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated, in 1984. In 1989, John moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he accepted a teaching position at Cooper City High School, and remained for the next 23 years, until his passing. While at Cooper City High, John taught Economics and American Government to 12th graders, served as Social Studies Department Head and was head coach for the Girls Basketball and Boys Tennis teams. A passionate and devoted educator, John was recognized as Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2003-2004 and 2004-2005. A lifelong learner, in 2003, John received a Master's of Science Degree from Nova Southeastern University. In 1996, John met Tiwanna Johnson and they later married in 1997. In 2000, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl named Amanda McCall. In his spare time, John enjoyed playing golf and motivating students to strive for academic excellence. On the evening of February 21, 2012, God called John to his eternal home, and the final chapter in the book of his life was complete. John will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, caring father, cherished family member and committed educator. John leaves to cherish his memory: Wife, Tiwanna Johnson-McCall; Daughters, Sheri McCall, Jameelah Faruk, Cortney Johnson and Amanda McCall; Son, Troy Faruk; Sister, Brenda McCall (Tommy/ Fort Lauderdale, Florida); Brothers, Wayne McCall (Deborah/Boyds, Maryland) and Bryan McCall (Linda/ Frt Lauderdale, Florida), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, co-workers and students. John is preceded in death by his parents, the late John E. McCall and Nellie T. McCall.
